Two different settings exist with the same title-page and pagination but with the text reset. In this setting, there are no colons in the head-piece on p. [3]. Bound with: Psalterion tou Dabid (Cambridge : J. Field, 1664), as issued. Apparently, the words 'kai ton allon' on title-page can be in upper case, lower case, or in upper- and lower case.

Spines gilt. Bound after 1709, since a number of prints are dated 1709. Some repairs to binding. Illustrated with woodcuts in the text and extra-illustrated with almost 400 engravings and etchings. Close to 100 of the engravings and etchings are by Crispin de Passe, Jacques Callot [La Petite Passion], Martinus Heemskerck, Martin de Vos, Philip Galle, Gerard de Jode, Charles le Brun, and Nicolas Poussin.. A large number of the engravings are by Matthaeus Merian the Elder. An astounding copy.

In fact the present work is a reprint of Wolfiums edition of 1572. Title-page mounted, with slight damage to upper part.

Folio. With a facsimile of the 1552 title-page, title-page and table printed in red-and-black, woodcut ornaments and initials throughout. Black letter. Modern quarter calf, retaining contemporary marbled boards. Ex-library copy. Previous library's name inobtrusively stamped on the title-page and no other marks. It is among some of the finest products of the nineteenth-century press prior to the fine press movement at the end of the century.
